Processing Orph

The orphanage mailbox needs to be processed at least once during each postmaster shift (so, no less than twice a day). To access the mailbox on list.mail (while logged in as upostmst), type

orph

at the command prompt.

The mailbox contains mostly junk that can be deleted. BUT! It also contains some legitimate messages, typically ones from folks who are attempting to manage their lists using majordomo commands. We need to respond to these with the updated mailman information found in the /home/upostmst/mailman directory.

To quickly find subscribe/unsubscribe requests, do a "pick" on "ubscr" in the orph inbox.

Scan the other message headers carefully for potential legitimate messages, view those that could be legitimate, and respond as needed. Delete the rest and update the mailbox.
