Sugar Hollow - Cadette Unit, Summer 1996
Summer 1996 offered more adventures as we are completed another
backpacking outing.
The girls did not sing until the end of the trip, when we
were standing near the top of a mountain in a tremendous
thunderstorm while waiting for our ride back to camp.
The rain was cold, hard and pelting. We had retreated
off the top of the mountain to get away from the lightning.
We had over 45 minutes until we expected our ride and
as we leaders looked at each other with a bit of concern,
one of the girls started a song from the sixties and they
entertained themselves singing Beatles', Beach Boys' and
other songs until our ride appeared and we could scramble
back up the hill and jump in the warm van.
