Sugar Hollow - Cadette Unit, Summer 1995

During the summers I sometimes volunteer to help lead a unit at the local Girl Scout Day Camp. In the summer of 1995, Jennifer Whitenack and I led a group of 8 girls on a backpacking expedition in the nearby Shenandoah National Park. It was great fun - we saw waterfalls, pools of water, much vegetation. We hiked up and down the moutains and hills with a truly great group of young women. As we went, we created this song that we performed for other campers at the sharing time at the end of the week:

Beginning call:

Hi Ho
Sing before each verse and at the end:

Hi Ho, Hi Ho,
It's off to hike we go
Margarget:
The food was great
We ate and ate
(And ate and ate)
Hi Ho, Hi Ho
Kate:
You'll get wet
But don't you fret
Hi Ho, Hi Ho
Ashley:
The water's cold
But we are bold
Hi Ho, Hi Ho
Amanda:
We don't wear skirts
We smell like dirt
Hi Ho, Hi Ho
Kelly:
The trail is long
But we are strong
Hi Ho, Hi Ho
Amanda:
We tried to fight
But the bugs did bite
Hi Ho, Hi Ho
Kristi
When we gotta go
We did a hole
Hi Ho, Hi Ho
Monique:
We climbed the hills
Through strength of will
Hi Ho, Hi Ho
Ending call:

Hi Ho
