I. Corrections to minutes from last meeting on June 26, 2000?

II. Old Business:

• Research Computing engines.
  • Update on PBS Portable Batch System (PBS) testing on orange (SUN) cluster. Purchase PBSPro for $1895?
    What are remaining questions/issues for rollout of Orange and Teal clusters?
  • Discuss list of possible items (hardware and software) for research computing funds (approximately $250K).
  • Mitch Rosen's High Performance Computing Recommendations
  • Update on Sun MindPrint Proposal
    Our award was 15 Ultra-60s. Full award is posted at: Sun Mindprint Equipment List Search for the "UVA/ITC UNIX LAB".
    Sun has agreed to pay for shipping, but shipping has been delayed due to a dispute between Sun and Virginia Dept. of Taxation.

  • Are these soft quotas acceptable: Graduate students default 2GB, Maximum 8GB; Faculty/Staff default 5GB, maximum 20GB?
    or should we increase them? What do we do when someone goes over the maximum quota?

  • Got approval from SRM to distribute research and software free of a distribution charge, so most CDs are free now.
