I. Corrections to
minutes from last meeting on January meeting held February 2, 2004?
II. Old Business:
- Magnetic tape retirement - done! (did get one request to read 9-track tape
2 weeks after deadline or to restore their Watson account!). See announcement:

- VPN and IP Filtering for FlexLM license daemons. Unix Systems set up separate
server; Testing and documentation proceeding. Mathematica done; several packages
tomorrow, where possible notifying affected users by individual e-mail as
well as general announcement. .
- Unix Lab machines - Time Line for turning on console logging
- PBS Pro upgrade on Birch - done
- Updating Orange and Teal clusters to latest PBS Pro, move crick.med behind
firewall.
- Put an SGI (crick) behind ACHS firewall for HIPAA use/compliance. (Timeline
needed) Hamp recommends after looking at the hardware configurations,
remove the extra 2 processors and Craylink from crick and turn it into a
2-processor machine. Put these into existing UnixLab SGI and use Craylink
- Teal Cluster: Outstanding (Timeline needed): PBSPro upgrade. Put
2 processors removed from crick and put into one teal node; use Craylink
hook them together. If other 4 CPUs are compatible, link them as well. Define
a "teal-login" machine. - Block interactive login on all but teal-login.
- Orange Cluster: PBSPro upgrade completed. Outstanding (Timeline needed):
Define a "orange-login" machine. - Block interactive login on all but orange-login.
- Long term goal is to have routing queues set up (or Condor-G) so that
user can log into central system and submit to any PBS queue we have.
- Intel compiler upgrade (Version 8.0 released mid-December) requires re-compile
of all libraries. (Timeline needed)
- Update on where Enterprise Linux rollout, licensing and pricing.
- Unix Systems considering Linux Cluster support as a for-fee service?
- ITC's research computing "white paper" draft will be out this
afternoon or Tuesday morning.
- DNS allocations in 10.x.x.x range update. Meeting scheduled? documentation?
III. New Business:
- Update on SEAS SUR grant clusters.
- Dropping/deleting Patran -has general announcement been made? Need to delete
it out of "Available Software" list.
