I. Special Agenda - Research Computing Task Force discussion

• Summary of issues from Phase 1 investigation of research computing needs. (separate handouts). See the IT & ResComp Task Force website at: www.itc.virginia.edu/rctf, especially the meetings links.
• Summary of recommendations to date:
  • Continue support for medium-scale HPC by acquiring successor of IBM SP
  • Provide courses to researchers on parallel programming
  • Campus-wide site license for LabView data acquisition software (RCSC administrator)
  • "TTI-like" program for research
  • Create an advanced computational support center for science & engineering
• Andrew Grimshaw's NSF proposal
• Any additional recommendations, efforts, etc. we ought to pursue?

II. Adjourn by 12:00 PM and next meeting -Should we meet in February? (I can't meet 2/26).
